UPPAA 2022 Spring Conference to be Held on June 4 in Marquette

Posted on by in Events

The Upper Peninsula Publishers & Authors Association (UPPAA) is holding its 2022 Spring Conference on Saturday, June 4th, at the Peter White Library in Marquette, MI.

This is the 25th Annual Conference for authors, writers, and publishers in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula region. A number of authors, editors, and publishers will speak at the conference including: Linda LeGarde Grover, Steve Lehto, John L. Hagen, Sharon Kennedy, Brandy Thomas, Nikki Mitchell, and Kathleen Carlton Johnson. The event concludes at 5:00 pm.

Mikel B. Classen, author of Points North and True Tales: The Forgotten History of the U.P. writes: “It is good to be having our Spring Conference again. It is an event that is vital to the Upper Peninsula writing community and the pandemic forced hiatus left us all without our annual get together. Though the conference is full of informative workshops and speakers, it is also the writer’s community’s social event of the year. It is our chance to get back in touch and to reinforce each other with encouragement and enthusiasm.”

The president of UPPAA and Senior Editor of Modern History Press, Victor R. Volkman, who will be delivering the Opening remarks at the conference, says, “The conference reinforces the unique sense of community created by U.P. writers. It is no coincidence that our breakout sessions are entirely led by members of the organization—each is an expert in his or her own right. Together, we lift each other up in improving both our technical craft and our marketing outreach possibilities”.

For UPPAA members, the conference is free to attend. For non-members, there is a $60 fee, which includes a buffet lunch. Registration ends May 25, 2022. Registration for the event can be made online at this link.
