Need A Break? Try These Simple Self-Happiness Tricks
Guest Blogger: Machelle Moulton
You deserve to be happy. Unfortunately, the stress that we all face in our daily lives makes it difficult to be happy. Work, family life and other responsibilities leave little time for ourselves. However, there are some easy things that you can do to release stress and make yourself a little happier.
Take a Walk
It has been scientifically proven that taking a walk will clear your mind and reduce stress. Taking even a quick walk around the office can help you get back on track. Getting your mind off a stressful situation for even a few seconds will calm you down while preventing you from doing something that you might regret.
Deep Breathing
If you can’t get away from a situation, take a few deep breaths to help you relax. Three or four breaths that hold for a count of three should do the trick. Doing this before a meeting with the boss or a client will stop you from stumbling over your words due to nervousness.
Get Yourself Something Nice
When you are in a bad mood, you should try indulging in a favorite food. Buying an ice cream cone or a pretzel at the mall should suffice. If you don’t like food, you can buy yourself a pair of shoes or that new video game that you wanted. Buying something that you will like will sooth and comfort you.
Put in a Quick Workout
You don’t need to spend an hour at the gym to get a good workout that will relieve your stress. Using the punching bag in your office for 60 seconds can get all that frustration out in a safe way. Crunches and sit-ups can also be done quickly while easing your frustration.
Play Some Soothing Music
Classical, jazz, and soul music are always good for you when you are stressed or upset. The lyrics and sounds will take you away to a calmer place where you can relax and regain your poise. If you can, put on your headphones so that you can listen to music while you work.
Stress is something that you cannot allow to linger. Stress and frustration can make you physically sick and put you in bad health. However, you can reverse that with these simple methods. Take a walk, punch a bag or play some music the next time that you are upset. You will be much happier afterward.
