4th U.P. Authors Day and Book Fair in Marquette on October 9
The Upper Peninsula Publishers and Authors Association (UPPAA) is holding its 4th U.P. Authors Day on October 9, 2021, in downtown Marquette, Michigan. Upper Michigan authors participating in the event will meet current and future readers and sign books.
According to Victor R. Volkman, President of UPPAA and publisher of the popular U.P. Reader anthology, this year’s event will be the largest single gathering of U.P. authors ever held. Authors participating in the 4th U.P. Authors Day this October include Tyler R. Tichelaar (Marquette), Gretchen Preston (Marquette), Nikki Mitchell (Iron River), Eric Paad (Rapid River), Dorothy Paad (Rapid River), Mikel Classen (Sault Ste. Marie), and many others.
“I continue to be amazed by how many authors are writing about Upper Michigan and Upper Michigan subjects, as well as non-U.P. related subjects who live here,” says Gretchen Preston, author of The Valley Cats Series. Mikel Classen, award-winning author of Points North, says of the importance of the U.P. Authors Day:
It’s important because the U.P. has a wide array of talent when it comes to writing. I think that the writers of this region have always been under-credited.
