RevitaDerm Lot Recalled over Contamination with Bacteria
One lot of popular wound care gel RevitaDerm has been recalled over contamination with dangerous disease-causing bacteria.
WFMZ reported on Thursday that Blaine Labs Company has voluntarily recalled one lot of RevitaDerm Wound Care because a bottle of the medication was found to be contaminated with the bacterium Bacillus cereus.
Bacillus cereus is known to cause infection in skin and soft tissue in humans. In people with compromised immunity, the infection can cause serious health issues like blood infections, sepsis, pneumonia, and meningitis.

The affected RevitaDerm Wound Care Gel lot is BL 2844 with an expiration date of 02/19/2023.
Patients who have got RevitaDerm Wound Care Gel 1.0 ounce bottle or 3.0 ounce tubes of the recalled lot are advised to stop using it immediately and return unused product to the dispensing physician.
Prevention reported that preterm babies are especially at risk of Bacillus cereus infection. Common symptoms of the infection include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The story cites FDA saying that no adverse effects have yet been reported by consumers.
