FDA Warns against Using Artnaturals Hand Sanitizer
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned people against using the Artnaturals scent-free hand sanitizer, citing risk of cancer associated with high levels of certain chemicals in the product.
The News & Observer reported on Saturday that the FDA issued a warning to the public on October 4 to immediately stop using the Artnaturals scent-free hand sanitizer and safely dispose any bottles of this product they may have in a hazardous waste container, not in trash.
The story wrote:
U.S. Food and Drug Administration tests have found “unacceptable levels” of some cancer-causing chemicals, including benzene, acetaldehyde and acetal contaminants in some bottles.
According to the news source, the Artnaturals sanitizer has become the latest of the 260 other hand sanitizer brands that are contaminated with harmful chemicals the FDA urges people not use given the potential risk of cancer associated with the chemicals used in them.
Natural Herbal Hand Sanitizer
Many people who are aware of the health risks associated with chemicals in branded products make their own safe products at home from natural ingredients, mostly those available in their kitchen. Bekka Laurent, Holistic Living Specialist, posted a video last year to teach people how to make homemade all-natural herbal hand sanitizer. Her video is included below.
